City Council opt for unique postal vote solution
For the combined Local Government and European elections held in June 2004, this City Council considered a number of options for the issue of postal votes. With 10,000 postal vote packs to be issued in a short timescale, for a dual election, they had concerns about meeting the deadline and maintaining 100% accuracy.
The brief
After extensive discussions with the client, a firm brief was established which set out the principles and needs of the Council in meeting its commitment to the electorate. The brief encompassed the printing of all postal vote stationery and envelopes, the receipt of data from their Strand system, laser personalisation and numbering of all components and the fulfilment and posting of the completed packs.
The solution
Following production of a variety of designs and conducting trials, Print Image Network arrived at a solution that alleviated the problems of time and accuracy immediately. The integrated product completely eliminated the need for matching and provided a quicker, more efficient method of fulfilment.
Success for the future
After conducting further proofing and tests, the project proceeded to a live run. Lasering and fulfilment was completed in two days, ahead of schedule, and due to an unprecedented demand for postal vote applications, the job was reprinted enabling the City Council to meet unscheduled, additional issues of postal votes.
The Council have stated their intention to use the “Easi-vote” system for all future postal votes having received an exceptional response to the trial.
